From Day One is a marketplace of social innovation created to introduce students, faculty, and staff to expertise, resources, ideas, and entertainment around how they can make a difference at Babson and beyond. The day is aimed at exposing the Babson community to social innovation and what it means to be a change maker.

This will be the first of many experiences that students will have at Babson to prepare them to better respond to the changing role of business and society. From Day One promises to be thoughtful, engaging, and fun!

This event is free and open to everyone in the Babson community. Registration is only required for the community service opportunities (see below for schedule & registration).

You do not have to wait.  Take action…small or large steps…however you are oriented…Start NOW.

Down to Earth: Doing Diversity for the Future - Reynolds Back Dining Room
Katrina Fludd, Coordinator, Student Diversity & Inclusion, Babson College

Despite the cliché and sometimes overly “politically corrected” version of diversity- there is much value in understanding how to navigate the very complex human identity of not only one’s self, but of others as well. This is key to personal and professional success in the 21st century. This workshop will provide information to expand your knowledge of “diversity” and allow you to practice your understanding of how to be a true citizen of the world.

Discovering Your Passions - Reynolds Room 244
Janice Caillet, Founder & Chief Catalyst, iSTARTUP Community Centers
Join us in a workshop designed to open your thinking specifically for personal and professional discovery. We will identify ‘thought habits’ which increase your likelihood to succeed and ones which may be keeping you from feeling, seeing and articulating what drives you, deeply and passionately. We will work through some approaches to shift some of the most common ‘thought habits’ in order to stimulate the neurons in our heart and our gut, instead of solely relying on the neurons in our brain for deeper self-reflection.  Once we tap into a more open state of being, we will utilize a few methods including pattern finding and visioning to start attaching language to articulate our passions.  Lastly, we will create a life’s purpose statement from articulated passions.  Both your passions and your purpose statement will be what you can use as a filter for opportunities and as a foundation for entrepreneurial activity.
