Bio

Cindy Bortman Boggess received her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1998 and her LL.M. in Taxation from the Boston University School of Law in 2015. She worked as an assistant county attorney for Palm Beach County, Florida, and then as an assistant city attorney for Fort Lauderdale, Florida, until 2008 when she began to shift her interest to tax. She is an enrolled agent and for several years worked from home as a subject matter expert for a software development division of H&R Block.​ At present, she is an adjunct faculty member of Suffolk University’s Sawyer School of Business, where she teaches Ethics and Business Law courses to undergraduates, and she is an adjunct faculty member of Babson College, where she teaches Tax to undergraduates and Business Law to MBA candidates. Prior to returning to the Boston area in 2012, she taught Ethics and Business Law courses to undergraduates and MBA candidates Lynn University’s College of Business and Management in Boca Raton, Florida. She volunteers at VITA during tax season as a tax return reviewer. She is the attorney member of the Human Rights Committee at Resources for Human Development Boston (RHD) and, in that role, helps RHD determine how it will affirm, promote, and protect the human and civil rights of people who receive support from the Commonwealth’s Department of Developmental Services. She provides legal, tax, and business planning advice to several tax exempt organizations in Massachusetts. She mentors law students at Boston University School of Law by regularly participating as an oral argument judge for the Law School’s Albers, Stone, and Esdaile Moot Court competition programs. And she assists the Law School’s Graduate Tax Program by serving as a class facilitator for several classes each year. Together with her family’s dog, Elmo, she is a certified therapy dog team member. She earned her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Harvard University Extension in 1995. She lives in her hometown, Winchester, Massachusetts.
