Dr. Nathan J. Karst is a mathematician and engineer specializing in applications of discrete mathematics to problems in wireless communications. His recent work includes patented contributions to the 4G cellular specification at Research in Motion, characterization of space-time block codes and development of cryptographic key distributions for use in the next-generation smart electricity grid. Dr. Karst received his B.S. in electrical and computer engineering from F.W. Olin College of Engineering and completed his doctorate at the Center for Applied Mathematics at Cornell University.
