Mr. Wain joined Babson faculty full time in 1999 after 10 years of management consulting with Touche Ross & Co. and 20 years of financial management with Digital Equipment Corporation/Compaq Computer Corporation. His areas of interest are financial planning and analysis and business modeling. He currently consults with nonprofit organizations in the areas of business plan development and management control systems. Mr. Wain had been an adjunct instructor in accounting at Babson from 1993 to 1999. He currently teaches the core management accounting class for sophomores and previously taught two electives, Management Planning & Control and Financial Planning & Cost Control.
Mr. Wain developed cases under Geneen grants on HealthSouth (used in Management Planning & Control course) and Build-A-Bear Workshop (used in the core Management Accounting course). He also co-authored a case “New Product Innovation at Chet’s Fan Manufacturing, Inc.” with professors Jan Bell and Shahid Ansari which was published in 2014 in the Journal of the International Academy for Case Studies and is used in the new core Management Accounting class.
Mr. Wain serves as a Trustee and Treasurer for New England Wild Flower Society (elected Treasurer effective January 2012); he is a member of Audit, Finance and Investment Committees and is extensively involved in the annual budget process as well as quarterly financial updates to the Trustees.
