Babson College was recently crowned the winner of the Facebook Beanpot Challenge. SplashScore's Facebook Beanpot competition featured 5 days of unparalleled Babson pride on Facebook. The contest proved that though the smallest school in this Boston-based competition, the Babson community is the best in Boston. Babson College was the first school to reach 10,000 points through the student body’s dynamic participation and excitement.

The Facebook Beanpont, was launched by SplashScore- a Facebook application company that gamifies user’s Facebook activity to provide incentives that reward social influencers. The Facebook Beanpot, was created as an interactive competition that was comprised of 10 Boston area schools that were pitted against one another to see which school could create the most social network ‘buzz’.

The rules of the competition were simple; participants simply had to create a Facebook post about their school with the intent of receiving ‘likes’ and ‘comments’ from the community, and then tag the post using their college’s hash tag ( i.e. #Babson). SplashScore would reward schools with one point for every Facebook ‘like’ and two points for every ‘‘comment’. The first school to reach 10,000 points was crowned the winner.

As extra incentives, Splashcore awarded one participant a day with an ITunes gift card, and at the end of the competition, awarded the person with the most individual points with an Iphone5.

Babson competed against fellow schools, Harvard, Tufts, Boston University, Emerson, MIT, Northeastern, Suffolk, and Boston College. While other schools in the competition, namely Harvard and Emerson, have been ranked highly for their social media efforts, this competition proved that having a strong, engaged, and dedicated community is the key to creating and showcasing a sense of proactive pride.
