On January 9th, 2014, the Babson College men's ice hockey team will be highlighted during this year’s Citi Frozen Fenway 2014 for a game against Norwich University at Boston’s Fenway Park. Started by sponsors Citibank and Fenway Sports Management (FSM) in 2010, the biennial 17-day event starts December 28th and features a series of area-college and high-school hockey match-ups with the purpose to create new experiences and provide greater access to existing and new fans in one of Boston’s most historic and iconic sports venues. Prior to the game, the Babson Alumni and Friends Network will be hosting an event at Jerry Remy's Sports Bar & Grill on Boylston Street beginning at 5 p.m.
"We are thrilled for the opportunity and grateful to the Fenway Sports Management group for the invitation to take part in such a prestigious event at Fenway Park," said Director of Athletics and Recreation Josh MacArthur. "The 2012 Frozen Fenway event was an incredible experience for our student-athletes and the entire Babson community. It was also a terrific opportunity to engage with our alums, one we hope to repeat this time around. We are very much looking forward to January 9."
Babson's 2-1 victory at Norwich in the ECAC East Tournament title game on March 2 provided the Beavers with their first conference title since 2009 and fifth overall. Babson also returned to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in program history and advanced to the national quarterfinal round. The Beavers went 18-7-5 overall and 10-5-3 in league play last winter. The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East clash between last year's league tournament championship game participants will also be a rematch of a 2012 contest that was part of the inaugural Frozen Fenway event.
