Students with Disabilities Abroad
The Glavin Office of Multicultural & International Education and the Office of Accessibility Resources are committed to providing equal educational opportunities for all students.
The key to a successful experience for students is advance planning, as attitudes, accessibility, and accommodations for students may vary at different program sites.
Prior to selecting an education abroad program, students should meet with an Education Abroad advisor or Electives Abroad program manager in the Glavin Office of Multicultural & International Education to determine the program of best fit for their individual needs. In addition to assisting with program selection, Glavin staff also can speak with the program provider or overseas institution directly to help arrange for certain accommodations, and can help ensure that students will have access to resources that will make their education abroad experience a successful one.
Requesting Accommodations Abroad
Summer, Semester, and Yearlong Programs
Students requesting accommodations at their education abroad institution should complete and submit the Academic Year, Semester, and Summer Abroad Accommodation Request Form. The Office of Accessibility Resources will send a letter to the Education Abroad Institution verifying the accommodations approved at Babson College.
It is very important that accommodations are arranged ahead of time, as prior approval may be necessary at some institutions, and it may be too late to set up accommodations upon arrival in the selected country. Not all accommodations existing at Babson College can be available at abroad institutions.
Short-Term Programs (Electives Abroad & Away, International Consulting Experience, and MSEL Global Entrepreneurship Experience)
Students requesting accommodations due to a disability for an Elective Abroad should complete and submit the Short-Term Program Accommodation Request Form by the course deposit deadline. The Office of Accessibility Resources will send a letter to the Short-Term program manager and faculty verifying the accommodations approved at Babson College. It is very important that accommodations are arranged ahead of time. Not all accommodations existing at Babson College can be available at short-term program locations.
