Getting Started

The following advising process is designed to guide you through the planning stages prior to opening an application to study abroad.

Five-step Advising Process

Step 1: Attend Babson Abroad 101

It is required to attend Babson Abroad 101 if you are interested in an academic year, semester, or summer abroad program. This one-hour session will review the education abroad advising process, parameters for choosing a program, financial considerations, academic credit, and next steps.

During the academic year, Babson Abroad 101 is held every Friday from 12:30–1:30 p.m. If you arrive late, you will be asked to attend another session.

Step 2: Research Programs

Babson Education Abroad administers more than 100 programs in 40+ countries around the world. To find the right academic year, semester, or summer abroad program for you, search for programs

Use the Advanced Search feature to narrow our selection of programs by region, desired term abroad, or by selecting parameters such as eligible populations, housing options, or internship availability.

Explore Our Programs

Step 3: Advising and Goals Questionnaire

After you have completed thorough research on possible programs and narrowed your list, you must complete the Advising and Goals Questionnaire found in the academic year, semester, and summer abroad application portal. This questionnaire gives you an opportunity to organize your thoughts and articulate your goals for studying abroad. It also provides our advisors with information to better assist you in finding a program that fits your needs. You will receive instructions on how to complete this questionnaire during Babson Abroad 101.

Step 4: Meet with an Education Abroad Advisor

Meeting with an advisor is both a valuable and required step in the academic year, semester, or summer abroad program process. To make the most of your appointment, please arrive prepared:

  • Complete your Advising and Goals Questionnaire
  • Review the list of programs you have researched, and be prepared with questions
  • Be prepared to discuss your academic plans and the types of courses you would like to take while abroad
  • Consider any other questions you may have regarding academics, student life, housing, finances, or anything related to academic year, semester, or summer abroad program

Each Education Abroad advisor is responsible for a particular set of regions. You are welcome to schedule an appointment with multiple advisor(s) depending on your region(s) of interest.

To schedule an appointment, please call the Glavin Office at 781-239-4565 during office hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.).

Please note: You must attend Babson Abroad 101, and complete the Advising Questionnaire before meeting with an Education Abroad advisor.

Step 5: Program Declaration

Once you have met with an Education Abroad advisor and narrowed your interest to one program, you may declare a program and request to open an application through the academic year, semester, and summer abroad application portal.
