Visa Processing Delays

ISSS has been informed that US embassies and consulates will not be processing any visas today and Monday, August 10th.  It is reported that this is due to database maintenance.  We are hopeful that the Bureau of Consular Affairs will be up and running by Tuesday, August 11th.  If you have been affected by this you should plan on contacting your local US embassy or consulate Tuesday morning to reschedule your appointment.  We will update this page with any new or relevant information regarding this newest development.

 Visa Backlog Resolved
All visa-issuing embassies and consulates are now back online. The State Department reports that is scheduling visa interviews and issuing nonimmigrant and immigrant visas.   More than 410,000 nonimmigrant visas were issued from June 21 through June 29. Consular staff worked through the weekend to diminish our backlog, the bulk of which has now been cleared.

Visa Issuance Delays
U.S. Embassies are currently experiencing wide-spread technical problems leading to delays in visa issuance. The Department of State is working to address these technical issues. The Glavin Office is aware of this issue and is sympathetic to any inconveniences caused by it. We are hoping that the Department of State will resolve this issue and the system will be fully functional soon.
