Presidential Search Committee
The Babson College Board of Trustees has appointed 12 community members to serve on the Presidential Search Committee whose charge is to make a recommendation to the Board regarding the next president and ensure the Babson community has the opportunity to engage in the search process.
Formed in consultation with governance, academic and administrative leadership, the search committee is comprised of representatives from all segments of the Babson community, including governance, faculty, staff, alumni and parents, as well as current and recent students of Babson’s undergraduate and graduate school programs.
Bruce T. Herring ’87
Chair, Presidential Search Committee and Board of Trustees
Bruce Herring was president of Strategic Advisers Inc., a registered investment adviser and a Fidelity Investments company. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing and services to more than 20 million people, institutions, and financial intermediaries. Herring has responsibility for Fidelity’s retail and workplace managed account solutions, wealth planning and personal trust offerings, and guidance and planning methodologies.
Before assuming this position in 2015, he was group CIO for the Global Asset Allocation (GAA) division from 2013–2015, where he oversaw the Target Allocation, Target Risk, Global Institutional Solutions, and Managed Accounts strategies. His responsibilities included establishing and refining investment strategies and processes, collaborating across Asset Management to draw on capabilities in equity, bond, and money markets, overseeing open architecture solutions, and partnering with the GAA team on delivering a robust product roadmap.
Herring earned his BS from Babson College in 1987 and is a CFA charter holder. He is vice chair of the Babson College Board of Trustees, chair of the Investment Committee, and serves on the Executive and Finance committees. He serves on the board for the nonprofit organization Raw Artworks, and has been chairman the past five years.
Warren Cross P’21
Board of Trustees
Warren Cross Jr. is the president and CEO of Cross Services Group Inc., a company he started in 1989 after graduating from college. CSG consists of numerous service companies in the residential and commercial cleaning space. Cross is the owner/developer of Cross Courts Squash and Fitness Center. Cross Courts now has one of the strongest Junior Development programs on the East Coast. In addition to his operating businesses, Cross is the owner of a number of commercial buildings in the East Natick Business Park.
Cross is a member of the Corporation at Belmont Hill School. He also is the trustee of the Warren Cross Charitable Foundation.
He earned his BA in political science from the University of Richmond and his executive master’s in business administration from Northeastern University. He currently is a trustee at Tenacre Country Day School, Dana Hall School, Lynchburg College, and Babson College. He also is a member of the Corporation at Belmont Hill School, and is a trustee of the Warren Cross Charitable Foundation.
Professor of Marketing
Anirudh Dhebar is a professor of marketing at Babson College. Prior to joining the faculty at Babson, he was on the faculty at the Harvard Business School (1983–1995) and the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1995–1997). He has served on the board of directors and the board’s audit and technology committees of Molex Incorporated (2009–2013).
Dhebar’s research, teaching, and consulting focus on technology, product, pricing, marketing, and business strategies in the computer, consumer electronics, life science, media, and financial services industries. He has published numerous Harvard Business School case studies, and articles stemming from his research appear in
Sloan Management Review,
Journal of Product Innovation and Management,
Journal of Retailing, and
European Management Journal.
He teaches in Babson College’s graduate program as well as custom executive-development offerings. He earned his BS in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, and his MA in economics and PhD in engineering-economic systems from Stanford University. He was a recipient of Babson’s Thomas Kennedy Award for Teaching Excellence at the graduate level for three consecutive years (2002–2005).
James H. Herbert II ’66
Board of Trustees
James H. Herbert II founded First Republic Bank in 1985 and is chairman and chief executive officer. The bank operates as a bicoastal, private bank and wealth management business in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, Boston, Palm Beach, and Portland, Oregon.
First Republic has been profitable since its inception and has more than $80 billion in bank assets and $100 billion in wealth management assets. Before establishing First Republic Bank, Herbert was founding president, chief executive officer and a director of San Francisco Bancorp. He currently serves on the boards of Babson College, the San Francisco Ballet Association (chair and co-chair, 2002–2008), Joyce Theater and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, New York, and The BASIC Fund.
He earned his MBA in 1969 from New York University, and his Bachelor of Science degree in 1966 from Babson College.
Nori Horvitz ’20
President, Babson Student Government Association
Nori Horvitz, a current junior (class of 2020) at Babson College, plans to concentrate in business analytics. On campus, she holds a variety of leadership roles, including the position of president of the Student Government Association, a Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Scholar (CWELS), and a Campus Advancement Ambassador.
She also is a Sigma Kappa sister, teacher’s assistant, and Healthy Living Tower resident. She has been recognized on the Dean’s List every semester, along with receiving the Michael Sainovich ’54 Memorial Award.
She is interning at TIAA in New York City during the summer in Digital Strategy. She is originally from South Jersey, which means, yes, she was happy when the Eagles won the Super Bowl. When she isn’t busy studying or participating in extracurricular activities, she enjoys reading books and playing tennis.
Fred S.C. Kiang ’70, MBA’75
Board of Trustees and Global Advisory Board
Fred S.C. Kiang is the chairman of Sunrise Duty Free Co., Ltd., which he co-founded in 1999, the only foreign-invested, privately owned, airport duty-free retailer in China, operating in three international airports at China’s two largest international aviation gateways: Beijing and Shanghai.
Early in his career, he worked for IBM as an account executive, responsible for marketing IBM computers. After IBM, he worked at Tandem Computers as the Asia Pacific area manager in Hong Kong. In 1986, Kiang became an investment banker for Banque Indosuez in New York. He returned to Taiwan in 1989 to assume responsibilities for his family business and then to Shanghai in 1990. Since then, he has been active in trading, project financing, insurance, private equity investment, and IT project development.
He serves on the boards of many privately owned companies in Asia. Kiang also is an active Global Advisory Board member and one of the founding members of the Babson Alumni Club of Greater China.
Kiang earned both his undergraduate and MBA degrees from Babson College. In 2010, he received the Richard J. Snyder Distinguished Service to the College Award. He also is a recipient of the Alumni Academy of Achievement Award.
John Kluge Jr. MBA’17
Board of Trustees
John Kluge Jr. is an entrepreneur, investor, and social justice activist. He is the co-founder and managing partner of the Alight Fund, which sources, structures, and capitalizes investments for refugee and displaced entrepreneurs. Previously, he co-founded Toilet Hackers, a social enterprise dedicated to scaling access to dignified sanitation through technology and hygiene innovation, national advocacy campaigns, and public-private partnerships. He also has built programs for the EastWest Institute, where he developed policy recommendations and coding guidelines for child-focused businesses in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union. Kluge helped scale solutions to food security by piloting a federal food recovery program at the Library of Congress and helping to pass the Federal Food Donation Act of 2008, a cost-free bill that improved the food security of millions of underserved people in the United States.
Kluge is the co-author of
Charity & Philanthropy for Dummies (Wylie, 2013), the author of
John Kluge: Stories (Columbia University Press, 2008), and is a contributor to
Conscious Company magazine. He serves as a director for Fonderie 47 and as a member of the Human Rights Commission of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia.
He earned his BA from Columbia University and his MBA from Babson College.
Ramón A. Mendiola ’86, P’20
Board of Trustees
Ramón A. Mendiola has extensive experience leading companies in the food and beverages market in America. He started his career at Phillip Morris International in 1992 where his last position was vice president for Central America. Between 1998 and 2002, he was Kraft Foods international vice president for Central America and the Caribbean.
In 2003, he took over his current position as CEO of Florida Ice & Farm Company (FIFCO), a Costa Rican public company with revenues of U.S. $1.3 billion and more than 6,500 employees across Central America and the United States. FIFCO is a total beverage company with more than 1,700 products and exports to 23 countries. He has led a transformation of FIFCO during the last 12 years, including growing the financial results (revenues and profits) more than 10 times, finding a corporate purpose and becoming a sustainability leader.
Mendiola earned his undergraduate business administration degree from Babson College (Class of 1986) and his master’s in business administration with an emphasis on international business marketing and strategy degree from J.L. Kellogg at Northwestern University (Class of 1992).
Jeffry A. Timmons Professor of Entrepreneurship
Heidi Neck is a Babson College professor and the Jeffry A. Timmons Professor of Entrepreneurship. She teaches entrepreneurship at the MBA and executive levels. Her research interests include entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurship inside organizations, and creative thinking. Neck is the lead author of
Teaching Entrepreneurship: A Practice-Based Approach—a book written to help educators teach entrepreneurship in more experiential and engaging ways. Additionally, she has published 40+ book chapters, research monographs, and refereed articles in such journals as
Journal of Small Business Management,
Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, and
International Journal of Entrepreneurship Education. She is on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Learning & Education journal.
Neck is the faculty director of Babson’s Symposia for Entrepreneurship Educators (SEE)—programs designed to develop faculty from around the world in the art and craft of teaching entrepreneurship and building entrepreneurship programs. An award-winning teacher, Neck has been recognized for teaching excellence at Babson for undergraduate and executive education. She also has been recognized by many international organizations. She earned her PhD in strategic management and entrepreneurship from the University of Colorado at Boulder, her BS in marketing from Louisiana State University, and her MBA from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Associate Professor and Director, Languages and Global Cultures
Virginia (Jenny) Rademacher is an associate professor of Hispanic literature and culture, and director of Languages & Global Cultures Program at Babson College. Her research interests center on contemporary Spanish literature, shifting conceptions and representations of identity, biography and autobiography, and emerging trends in Hispanic literature in response to new media and technological change. She has published articles and reviews in the
Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies,
Hispanic Issues Series, and
Monographic Review/Revista Monográfica, among others. Her chapter in
Hispanic Issues (2012) centers on the function of social media, digital games, and new narrative formats among Spanish writers.
Prior to Babson, she taught at the University of Virginia, Randolph College, and Georgetown University.
She earned her BA from Harvard University, and her MA in international affairs and economics from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She earned her PhD in Hispanic literature from the University of Virginia. At the University of Virginia, she was the recipient of a grant from Spain’s Ministry of Culture toward her current book project. This study relates approaches to uncertainty and risk in the fields of business and finance with literary strategies as seen through recent trends in Spanish narrative.
Vice Provost, International & Multicultural Education
Amir Reza began his career in international education 20 years ago at the University of Maine, working with ESL students. He has held numerous positions in academic affairs, student affairs, and international education during the past 17 years at Babson College. He is currently Vice Provost for International & Multicultural Education, responsible for providing leadership for collaborative advancement of the college’s internationalization and efforts designed to create a more inclusive campus for students. In this role, he oversees several areas of the college, including international student & scholar services, education abroad, faculty-led electives abroad, multicultural programs, multifaith programs, and service learning.
Reza has served on regional leadership boards for NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and has presented at numerous national and international conferences on international education. He also has served on the international advisory board of Tongji University, Shanghai, China. In addition, he has provided consulting on pedagogy and curriculum development for the intercultural and international higher education graduate program at Lesley University.
Reza earned his BA in international relations and his master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Maine, and his Doctor of Philosophy in higher education administration at Boston College’s Center for International Higher Education.
Lisa Spadafora Thompson MBA’96

Lisa Spadafora Thompson is the founder of Sturbridge Growth Partners in Medfield, Massachusetts. Prior to founding Sturbridge Growth Partners, she was a partner with Deloitte Consulting LLP in its Strategy Service line, Monitor Deloitte. She has more than two decades of management consulting experience, helping clients reach organic growth goals and increase gross profits through better pricing across a variety of industries. She has worked for Fortune 100 companies, mid-sized firms, startups, and nonprofits. Prior to joining Deloitte, Thompson was a senior partner at Monitor Group (acquired by Deloitte in 2013) and served on the firm’s board of directors.
She earned her MBA from Babson College, and her BA from Regis College.
Vice President for Strategic Initiatives/Chief of Staff and Principal Staff to the Presidential Search Committee Chair
Kelly Lynch is vice president, strategic initiatives, and chief of staff at Babson College. A distinguished strategic communications professional with more than 20 years of experience, Lynch joined Babson in 2011 as head of Institutional Communications. She currently serves as a member of the College’s executive leadership team. Prior to joining Babson, Lynch was principal/senior vice president at Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications.
