Why I Chose Babson
During my first year of college, I found a way to combine my love of cooking with my entrepreneurial ambitions when my childhood friend and I started Mainely Burgers, a food truck company that now has three trucks and 15 employees. Entrepreneurship in my mind is seizing a market opportunity, and the Portland, Maine, food scene presented us with a great chance to pioneer the food truck revolution in Maine. In the fall of 2012, I transferred to Babson. I wanted a smaller school where I could gain a strong business foundation, and I found the transition to be extremely easy. Right away, I felt a part of the culture here.
How Babson Has Impacted My Career Development
Being an entrepreneur, I realized how important it was to surround myself with like-minded students and faculty who would help improve my business. While the faculty at Babson improved my management skills from a financial, marketing, and operational perspective, the insights I’ve gained from my classmates have been extremely useful in the development of Mainely Burgers. The special thing about Babson is how I can bounce ideas and information off people from all over the world to get global perspectives on business and business planning.
My Career Ambitions
The education I’ve received from Babson has put me in an ideal situation to pursue my passions—currently I’m interested in the growing field of sports analytics. There is a huge market opportunity for analytics within the sports industry as it becomes more prevalent in order to run a successful franchise. Regardless of what industry I participate in, I’ll be in the forefront making a difference and taking the risks necessary to be successful.
