How Does Babson Prepare Students for the Real World?

The answer is through a hands-on approach to learning because we believe experience is the best teacher. Experiential learning is embedded into our undergraduate business degree curriculum, combining business classes with the liberal arts and sciencesBeginning in your first semester of your undergraduate education, you will take classes and work on projects that set you up to make a real impact on organizations, the environment, and your community.

From your first year until your final class in our undergraduate business program, you’ll be taking on projects that make real impact. Your hands-on experiences in the field, such as undergraduate business internships and professional projects, along with your foundations in business and the liberal arts and sciences, provide a well-rounded portfolio when you graduate.

Get to know Babson College Degree courses and some of our signature courses that set students up for professional fulfillment and success.

Getting Your Feet Wet as a First-Year

That idea you’ve had forever? It finally has a home in Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME). Our first-year students work in groups and with faculty members to launch a real business. The signature class in our undergraduate business degree program, FME will teach you all aspects of how a business runs.

You not only develop the business fundamentals and the essential skills, such as teamwork and problem solving, employers are demanding, but it’s an experience you build on and can draw from during interviews and undergraduate internships. FME is the premier Babson course for a reason and is a big reason why we can call ourselves one of the best business schools, especially for entrepreneurship and career outcomes.

Tackling Big Issues in Your Second and Third Year

We make sure our students are prepared to tackle the issues of tomorrow, today. A big part of that is learning how people and nature work together and why that matters. From sustainability to urban planning, Socio-Ecological Systems courses will change the way you think about the world. It’s one of the most distinct undergraduate college classes you will find at an undergraduate business school.

Socio-Ecological Systems is a course analyzing the sustainability challenges facing our future. Immerse yourself in the intersections among social, ecological, and economic systems while learning from two faculty members: one professor of natural sciences and one professor of the humanities or social sciences.

A Running Start to Graduation and Your Career

Engage in consulting projects with companies such as Puma or the Boston Red Sox and address real business challenges for them as part of Management Consulting Field Experience (MCFE). Or apply your financial modeling skills by managing a portion of the Babson College endowment in the Babson College Fund class. Or learn and evaluate federal monetary policy, then present monetary policy recommendations to economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in the College Fed Challenge.

What you do as part of your Advanced Experiential course is up to you. This requirement allows you to select undergraduate college classes in the discipline of your choice and collaborate with an external organization to identify, analyze, and develop real ideas for growth.
