UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION FELLOWS

Each year, the Office of Undergraduate Admission selects several student leaders to share their experiences with prospective students.

These students conduct interviews, participate in information sessions, and answer questions from prospective students and families. Get to know our Summer 2018 admission fellows below.

Kate Appiah

Class of 2021

Hometown: Bronx, New York
Academic Interests: Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Justice Citizenship and Social Responsibility
Clubs/Activities: volunteering/community action programs, GIVE Executive Board, Natalie Taylors Scholar, Horatio Alger Scholar, CRU Christian Organization, Accounting Club, Global Philanthropy/Living for Social Change
Why Babson: The endless opportunities to grow my passion for business and Babson's diversity and global mindset. 
Fun Fact: I am planning to graduate from Babson in the next 3 years with my Master's and Bachelor's degree in Accounting!

Cole Farrey

Class of 2019

Hometown: Burlington, CT
Academic Interests: Economics and Strategic Management - hoping to pursue a career in consulting
Clubs/Activities: Babson Consulting Association, Men's Varsity Soccer Team, guitar, snowboarding
Why Babson: I was attracted to Babson for the challenging course load, discussion-based classes, and school spirit/athletics. 
Fun Fact: I was actually born in Seattle and usually tell people I am from there so I sound cool (even though I only lived there a year and don't remember anything about that year!). I am a Lakers, Seahawks, and Red Sox fan, making me an incredibly disloyal fan to any one city. 

Kat Markmann

Class of 2020

Hometown: Weston, MA
Academic Interests: Marketing
Clubs/Activities: Chi Omega, Women Giving Back Tower, I also work at B/Spoke Studios - a cycling studio in town
Why Babson: After attending a large university my first year of college, I realized I would be more comfortable and successful at an institution with a strong sense of community that fosters strong relationships - both personal and professional. This is the main reason I transferred to Babson and have loved my time here so far!
Fun Fact: I went to high school down the road from Babson's main Wellesley campus!

Swathi Nachiappan

Class of 2020

Hometown: Ethnically Indian, lived in Japan, Hong Kong, England, New York, New Jersey, and Singapore
Academic Interests: Strategic Management and Finance
Clubs/Activities: CWEL Scholar, O.N.E. Executive Board, public speaker and upcoming author on global childhoods, musician (violin, flute, and piano), runner
Why Babson: Babson was the perfect fit for me because I knew I wanted a small school with a focus on global business. I love the close-knit community and the ability to form relationships with professors and staff. On top of that, the curriculum is unbeatable and I have learned so much in the short time I have been here. 
Fun Fact: I have my black belt in Tae Kwon Do and did gymnastics for 9 years. I like drawing faces and Japanese cuisine is my favorite!

Amna Tariq

Hometown: Islamabad, Pakistan
Academic Interests: â€‹Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Global Politics
Clubs/Activities: Babson Globe, Healthy Living Tower, Student Government Association
Why Babson: 3 reasons: entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship!
Fun Fact: I love exploring the transportation network in Boston. I have participated in electives abroad in Spain, London, Malaysia, and Latin America. I also completed a course at Babson's Boston campus.
 
Abdullah Zahid (AB)

Hometown: Lahore, Pakistan
Academic Interests: â€‹Pharma-business development and private equity
Clubs/Activities: South Asian Student Association (AMAN), Babson Political Association, Global Leadership Organization (GLO)
Why Babson: 
Fun Fact: I have an unhealthy obsession with pocket squares and ties, Ironically, 90% of the time you'll see me in black outfits. I live and breathe Godard and Pacino, Sinatra is my guy.
