Engineering a Better Future
Arjun Bhatnagar ’18 / North Andover, Massachusetts
“I believe you should always leave somewhere better than how you found it, which is why
I love working on fun and innovative projects that have the potential to make a positive impact in the real world. The highlight for me was when I helped
design and build a functioning prosthetic hand for a 3-year-old boy born without one. Having the freedom and flexibility to pursue projects that inspire me is very important, and at Babson I found a school that promotes this spirit of collaboration and exploration.
“Babson presents students with so many opportunities—our job is to decide which pursuits we should spend our energies on in order to make effective use of our time. For me, that has meant building a new joint
academic concentration for Babson and
Olin College of Engineering students that focuses on entrepreneurship and engineering.

“I’m an engineer at heart who loves taking on new projects, and that led to my being approved for an advanced computing elective at Olin. In this course, I was able to define and create my own intranet from scratch, which gave me valuable insights I’ve used to improve
Hey! HeadsUp, an interactive scheduling platform I’ve developed to help people automatically manage their busy calendars.
“As I focus on building a business that creates value, the Babson campus is offering me a ton of support. I’ve been heavily involved with the
Blank Center for Entrepreneurship and the
Butler Launch Pad’s Hatchery, which is an incubator for student businesses like mine. I’m also a part of the
eTower, a close community of Babson student entrepreneurs who live together and help each other out with their ventures.
“Another group that has shaped my time at Babson is my cohort of
Presidential Scholars. My Presidential Scholarship helped me a great deal financially, but, more importantly, it really gave me a great foundation on campus. My cohort is made up of amazing people—not only do we hang out on and off campus, but we challenge one another as we pursue our different passions at Babson. Surrounded by inspiring students like them has made diving into the world at Babson a blast.”
