“Sports are a huge part of my life, and something that I’m really passionate about. When I was looking at schools, Babson was a frontrunner because I knew I could combine my love of sports with my desire to open my own business. Then, I met the Babson field hockey team. Everyone was so close and had a great time together; I instantly knew I wanted to be a part of this family. I was sold.
“Now, I’m a captain on the field hockey team. Playing a sport at Babson has been an incredible experience. I live for the fight, the challenge, the adrenaline rush. It’s a huge commitment, especially because I’m also a peer mentor and a Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) member.
“Juggling all these activities isn’t as easy as it sounds. But it’s not as hard as it sounds, either. It’s fun, and it’s teaching me how to manage my time in a way that will most resemble life after graduation.
“With SAAC, I represent student athletes within the Babson community, so I’m getting essential administration experience with a sports angle. Similarly, being a peer mentor helps me develop invaluable leadership skills that apply to everything I do. I now make an extra effort to be outgoing and meet new people each day. Life is all about connections. Whether it’s having a positive attitude and showing dedication on the field or asking someone who’s sitting alone at lunch to join me, I want to inspire others to strive to be the best person they can be.
“With everything I’m doing, the most important thing I’ve learned so far is time management. It helps you keep your sanity. You have to figure out what works for you; everyone is different. It’s all about finding that balance between academics, cocurricular activities, and your social life. I’ve learned that if you want results, you need to put in the effort and you need self-discipline. Because of Babson, I have real-world lessons that will help me immensely in the workforce and give me an edge that not everyone has coming out of school.”
