Making the Most of Every Opportunity
“Since I was a kid, I’ve had a passion for business. And through my experiences at Babson, I now have a passion for travel as well. In the span of a year, I had the opportunity to live in London for two months and study with the Honors Program, visit Paris, and teach in Ghana—and while I was having the time of my life, I also learned a lot and gained valuable experience that will help me in the future.
“Though the travel is just one aspect of my Babson experience, it’s emblematic of the culture here. You get placed in situations where you can choose your opportunities and work to make the most of them. For example, the first thing I got involved in at Babson was the class steering committee. We planned events that helped to build community among classmates, such as “Golf Cart Day,” where we picked up students in a golf cart and drove them to class. And through connections I made as co-president of the Accounting Club, I landed a summer internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers. That summer internship eventually turned into my current full time position with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

“As community manager for the Sophomore Steering Tower, I learned how to manage residents while balancing my own commitments. My role evolved into that of a resident assistant (RA) for the Sophomore Area before I moved on to the Suites Area and Mandell Family Hall, where I managed a majority of senior residents. I wouldn’t say that housing is a passion of mine or a career goal, but in addition to these ‘domestic’ activities, I had an amazing experience working with Habitat for Humanity in El Salvador. Being an RA had its challenges, but it’s nothing compared to digging trenches for a cement foundation as part of a home-building team where not everyone speaks the same language.
“When people ask me what my career goals are, I tell them I have a realistic goal and a dream goal, and they’re both based on my interests in accounting and technology. The realistic one is to become a CPA and the dream one is to become the CFO of a technology company. Babson gave me the tools and the support to do either or both.
“Between what I learned and what I actually did, I know I can lean on my Babson experiences and education to help me be successful in anything I attempt. At Babson, the sky truly is the limit. If you can dream it, they can help you do it.”
