Social Innovation Badge

You are part of the generation who will solve the world’s greatest challenges.

At Babson Summer Study for High School Students, our mission is to educate leaders who create great economic and social value—simultaneously.

Sounds great, but what does it mean?

We define Social impact as putting a social innovation mindset into action toward any activity that advances one or more of the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development (UN SDGs). We focused on the UN SDGs because issues such as access to water and quality education are the big problems that shape the world.

Students who opt in to earn Summer Study’s Digital Badge in Social Innovation are asked to reflect on ways these global problems affect them personally. Many of our students are already creating social impact at home through school clubs or nonprofits that solve problems in their communities. Other students have the passion behind these value and want to know how to get started in creating positive change. In order to meet each student wherever they are on their journey, the Social Innovation Badge focuses on helping students define “action steps” to turn their ideas into action that can shape their careers and communities.

“Through Summer Study I’ve been able to explore the area of social entrepreneurship, and I’m extremely excited to take what I have learned back to my community at home. My long-term goal is to become a social entrepreneur and I’m currently working on a project to convert food waste into energy in order to obtain a social innovation badge.”
