Global Scholars

Overview

Established in 2014, a small, highly talented group of international students is awarded need-based scholarships as part of our Global Scholars Program.Students selected for the Global Scholars Program will receive four-year, full-tuition scholarships. Global Scholars with greater levels of financial need will also be awarded additional grant funds, in varying amounts based on need, to help with room and board, books and supplies, health insurance, and travel expenses.

After enjoying moderate success in its first 14 years at the varsity level, the Babson softball program has erupted onto the New England and national scene over the past 12 years. In 2001, the Beavers set a new team record with 18 victories, matching their win total from the two previous years combined. That set the stage for a spectacular 2002 campaign in which resulted the squad's first-ever ECAC Tournament berth.

Ice hockey is one of the oldest and most successful programs in Babson Athletics history. In six decades of varsity play, Babson hockey has posted over 700 victories, made 15 NCAA Tournament appearances, claimed the 1984 NCAA National Championship, and boasts 12 Athletics Hall of Fame members.

After achieving varsity status in 1980, the Babson women's volleyball program rose to regional prominence in the early 1990s, going a combined 74-30 over a four-year stretch. The Beavers' run of success culminated in 1993 with a 21-7 record and a third-place finish in the NEW 8--the team's highest conference finish ever.

Overview

One of oldest programs at Babson, the men's golf team boasts more than six decades of history. Officially begun in the spring of 1948, the program has amassed nine conference championships, four regional titles, and eight team trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Overview

Begun in 1983, the Babson field hockey program rose to regional prominence in the mid-1990s. In 1993, the Beavers went 11-7 and earned their first-ever bid to the ECAC New England Tournament. The following season, the team enjoyed what was then the finest season in program history, going 14-7-1 and winning its first-ever ECAC Tournament Championship--the first such title for any women's sport at Babson.

Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving

Overview

The men's swimming and diving program has been one of the most successful in Babson's storied history. The program has produced 26 national qualifiers, won 19 conference event championships, and boasted 42 All-Conference award winners.

Women first joined the Babson swimming and diving program in 1974-75, and began competing with and alongside the men's team until 1985-86, when Babson first began sponsoring a varsity-level women's swimming and diving team. In their first season of competition, the women went 2-7 and placed 19th at the New England Championships.

Overview

The alpine ski program is one of the most deeply-rooted at Babson. During its existence, the men's team has won 12 division titles, advanced to the regionals 25 times, made 10 USCSA national appearances, and had one NCAA individual national qualifier. The women's squad has won five division titles, qualified for the regionals on nine occasions, and made trips three to nationals. In addition, the programs have combined to earn a total of 22 All-American awards as well as numerous All-Conference and All-East honors.

A program with more than eight decades of history, men's basketball is by far the oldest varsity sport at Babson. Since achieving varsity status in 1930-31, the program has amassed over 800 wins, nine conference championships, 10 regional postseason bids, and five NCAA Tournament appearances. The hoops squad has also produced numerous Athletics Hall of Famers, including first-team All-American and New England Basketball Hall of Fame member, 1992 graduate, Jim Pierrakos.

The first varsity women's team in Babson Athletics history, women's basketball has consistently ranked as one of the College's top programs. After years as a club sport, the Babson track and field teams achieved varsity status in spring 2001. In their first season, both the men and women enjoyed great success, as a total of three athletes qualified for the NCAA New England Division III Championships. The current decade has been one of unprecedented success for Babson's track and field program. In addition to a multitude of New England and ECAC qualifiers, Babson has boasted one NEWMAC event champion, two All-Conference honorees, four All-New England selections, and seven more National All-Academic Team awards since 2010.

Perhaps the most storied program at Babson, men's soccer boasts more than five decades of excellence at the varsity level. Since its first season in the fall of 1955, the team has posted an overall record of 583-291-101 for a sparkling .650 winning percentage. Babson also boasts three national championships as well as the distinction of being the first Division III school in the country to attain three NCAA titles in the sport of soccer.

One of our most storied programs, tennis exploded onto the Babson scene all the way back to 1922, when school President George W. Coleman sparked interest in the sport by creating a campus-wide tournament involving both students and faculty. A year later, the tourney's popularity is a key factor in new tennis courts being constructed on campus.

The current decade has seen the Beavers post four straight 10-win seasons, as well as the program's first trip to the Pilgrim League championship game in 10 years in 2011 and a return trip to the title game in 2013.

The team reached regional prominence in 1996, going 14-2 overall, finishing first in the conference and earning its first-ever bid to the ECAC Tournament. With more than two decades of history, the men's and women's cross-country programs have enjoyed great success at Babson. Between 1990 and 1996, the Beavers had 13 runners receive All-Conference honors, including all-time greats Eric Sullivan '94, Brian Dowd '97, and Babson Athletics Hall of Fame member Joey Curtis '92. Babson has also had three conference Runner of the Year recipients, one conference Rookie of the Year, seven All-ECAC honorees and four All-New England selections.
