Babson Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Project

The Babson Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Project is an action research project to develop the entrepreneurial capacity in defined localities, by bringing together the policies, structures, programs and climate that foster entrepreneurship.

Leaders around the world face the challenge of creating meaningful employment and economic growth, and high value creating entrepreneurship is the way to do it. Yet most leaders are uncertain about exactly how to go about building the programs, policies, and culture to bring out the entrepreneurial spirit that almost always is lurking beneath the surface. And most of them believe it will take decades to show meaningful results.

The Babson Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Project stimulates and supports entrepreneurship, fostering an entrepreneurship ecosystem in which growth oriented entrepreneurial businesses can thrive. BEEP continues to launch ambitious local Ecosystem Projects in cities, regions, and countries around the world, particularly in mid-income and advanced economies. Successful Ecosystem Projects require the participation of a broad group of local public and private leaders, which can include government entities, foundations, private enterprises, universities, and public-private partnerships. Our ultimate goal is to stimulate economic growth, development, and prosperity by creating measurably more entrepreneurship in a given locale within five years.

BEEP is directed by Babson Executive and Enterprise Education Professor of Entrepreneurship Practice Daniel Isenberg, a renowned authority on entrepreneurship around the world, and a former Harvard and Columbia Business School professor, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist.
