Gonzalo Chavez earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Houston. He previously obtained a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Escuela Superior Politécnica and an MBA from the Instituto de Postgrado en Administración de Empresas, both in Ecuador.
 
Dr. Chavez has had an active career as professor and as an international seminarist. He has taught graduate and executive students in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Holding multiple recognitions for teaching excellence, Gonzalo Chavez has collaborated as professor and academic director in various academic institutions such as    the Instituto de Empresa (Spain), Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (Mexico), Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (Chile),  and Bentley College (United States). 
                                             
Professor Chavez’ research interests relate to financial markets and corporate governance. His work has been published in various international journals such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Applied Corporate Finance and others. Presently, his research is concentrated in measuring trading costs and analyzing corporate governance issues in emerging and developed markets.
 
As consultant, Dr. Chavez has specialized in firm valuation and has counseled interest groups on the use of derivative instruments to hedge exchange rate risk. In the field of professional training, Professor Chavez is a recognized user of financial simulation in pedagogic application related to investments, international finance and risk hedging. Professor Chavez has used this tool in the international training of executives, stock exchange management teams and students.
