Timothy Bell

Visiting Professor of Accounting

 

Tim Bell is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Babson College. Dr. Bell recently completed his Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut, where he also taught introductory Managerial Accounting. His research interests include valuation of accounting information, in particular tax information, the creation and transfer of tax benefits, general corporate finance, and research methodologies. 

After completing an undergraduate degree in Physics at UC Berkeley, he worked in the high-tech industry in research and engineering positions developing pulsed power lasers for eye surgery and semiconductor processing in Boston and Silicon Valley. After a Babson MBA, he worked in the structured finance industry, designing multiparty financial transactions to efficiently comply with tax, accounting, and credit requirements of all parties. As an active member of the Equipment Leasing Association, including a position as the Chair of the Federal Tax Committee, Dr. Bell also advocated for industry members related to tax laws, tax regulations, and accounting regulations. 
Other experience that informs his teaching include work in "job-shop" metal fabrication, a union-organized food cannery, retail, political activism, and various other manufacturing organizations.
