Ankush Chopra is a strategy expert who has held corporate, consulting, and academic positions in the areas of finance and strategy. He has 15 years of business experience as a manager, consultant, and business thinker in Asia and America. He is an Assistant Professor of Strategy at Babson College.
As a professor and business thinker, Chopra works on strategic issues around innovation by established firms. These issues include challenges of innovation, innovation strategy, profiting from innovation, and transforming business and organization in the face of major changes. He is currently studying how some innovations destroy profits and challenge incumbents.
His paper "Survival" achieved the honor of publication in best paper proceedings of Academy of Management’s Best paper Proceedings. He has presented his research at forums such as Duke University, Academy of Management, and Babson College to name a few. He has also reviewed for major academic journals including Strategic Management Journal, and Academy of Management. He has developed frameworks for innovation strategy, for responding to innovation, and for whitespace expansion opportunities.
Ankush worked with Procter & Gamble, Citibank and Reliance Industries across several businesses in the areas of strategy and finance. He led custodial services business for Citibank in India where he turned around the business in the face of a major industry change. He also led the transformation of Citibank India’s financial control department that included revamping the entire business reporting systems for local, regional and global audience. His contributions at Procter & Gamble included enabling a large-scale organizational transformation involving setting up of a shared services organization and parts of business intelligence units.
As a consultant, Ankush advised companies in Asia and America on strategic issues including entry strategy into new businesses, business growth, business model changes, and white space expansion. He creates value for clients by combining his extensive hands-on experience of manufacturing and service businesses as well as deep knowledge of strategic issues.
Ankush received a Ph.D. in Business Strategy from Duke University and an MBA from Indian Institute of management. He has lived and worked in India, Singapore, Japan, the Philippines, and the United States. He has managed large multicultural and multi functional teams with members from over 10 countries. He has trained small and large groups of managers at various levels of organizations in several countries.
