Before coming to Babson, Stephen Deets taught at Bryn Mawr College, Oberlin College, and Miami University of Ohio. A specialist in post-communist democratization, he has recently published articles on East European elections, health care reform in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Hungarian minorities.
Currently his research focuses on debates over minority rights, including issues of justice and institutional protections. Before receiving his Ph.D., he spent a decade at the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, where he was responsible for cooperation with the East European academies and organized projects on nuclear non-proliferation, terrorism and a host of environmental issues.
