Alexei G. Orlov is an associate professor in the Department of Economics at Radford University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia, and has previously taught at the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech. Dr. Orlov holds a visiting associate professor position at the American University in Bulgaria, where he teaches in the executive MBA program. He has taught a variety of courses, ranging from undergraduate macroeconomics, money and banking, econometrics and international economics, to graduate-level managerial economics and entrepreneurship in the global economy. Dr. Orlov’s research interests span the fields of macroeconomics, international finance, economic growth, and portfolio management. His articles appeared in the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Financial Markets and Portfolio Management, Economics Letters, and other refereed outlets. His current research topics include financial contagion, exchange rates volatility, and spatial econometrics.
