Babson Faculty Research Fund Proposal Process
Each year the Babson Faculty Research Fund provides Course Releases, Summer Stipends, and funds for research-related expenses to faculty members on a competitive, peer-review basis. The BFRF will issue a “call for proposals” and related deadlines during the academic year. Throughout the year, the BFRF accepts applications for research-related expenses and makes awards as funds allow.
The BFRF aims to keep the proposal process as simple as possible. Certain guidelines are necessary to ensure that projects are brought to completion—a research investment return for the College.
The BFRF is here to serve faculty in all stages of research activities:
- Pre-proposal discussions about funding options
- Application preparation
- Resolution of cases where award recipients need to modify their contractual output
This site provides the information needed to apply for BFRF research support. If you have any questions or comments on the application process, please contact the BFRF coordinator, Susan Chern, 781-239-5339, or any of the committee members.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
All Faculty, Staff and Honors Students doing theses who are doing research with human subjects must submit an IRB application. Please visit the IRB website on the Babson Portal for more details. The BFRF must have a copy of your IRB approval letter (forward the IRB approval email) before any funds can be allocated or contracts can be signed.
General Proposal Information
You will want to review the General Proposal Information document (pdf) that outlines the College’s General Policies on research activities, the BFRF Funding Guidelines, Proposal Deadlines, the Announcement of Awards, and the Responsibilities of the Applicant.
