Overseer Tim Marken ’81 likes to joke that after 30 years, he’s still getting a Babson education. Marken, who co-founded a marketing and strategic communications agency in 2009, teaches two classes in Babson’s Entrepreneurship Division.

“I get as much out of the course as the students do,” he says. “At the start of each class, I present an issue that I am currently dealing with at my company, and the students give me a fresh perspective on different ways to address these challenges.”

Marken never imagined he would follow in the footsteps of his favorite professors—John Marthinsen, Bill Casey, and Mike Fetters—but he tries to live up to what they taught him. “My former professors were there for their students in and out of the classroom,” he says. “I wanted to do well in their classes because they invested the time to support me.”

Marken recently established a $250,000 bequest because he wants to help keep the Babson community strong. “I’m very passionate about Babson,” he says. “At other schools, college relationships last four years. At Babson, the community offers you lifelong support, resources, and friendships. I want to make sure the Babson dream lives on.”
