World Stage Honors

At the World Stage celebration held in conjunction with Founder’s Day on April 18, Babson welcomed three leaders to its Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs. Scott Cook co-founded and is now chairman of the executive committee at Intuit Inc., developer of such products as Quicken and TurboTax. Gururaj Deshpande is chairman of Sparta Group LLC, A123 Systems, Sycamore Networks, Tejas Networks, Sandstone Capital, and HiveFire. Among his numerous accomplishments, Deshpande is known for advancing optical networking technology. Howard Stevenson is Sarofim-Rock Baker Foundation Professor (emeritus) and senior associate dean at Harvard University. He also is director of publishing and chair of Harvard Business Publishing Co. As part of the Founder’s Day celebration, the three met with the Babson community that afternoon for an informal chat.

Changing Roles

Undergraduate Dean Dennis Hanno has been named vice provost and Murata Dean of the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business. As of July, he’ll take on these roles following Raghu Tadepalli’s decision to leave his role as dean and return to the classroom as a professor in the Marketing Division. Hanno also will continue to manage campus-wide student services. Bob Halsey, associate professor of accounting and associate dean of the Undergraduate School, will serve as interim undergraduate dean. During the year ahead, the College will conduct a national search for a new undergraduate dean.
