GEM Reports on Women
After analyzing 59 economies, researchers determined that about 187 million women were involved in establishing and running businesses, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2010 Women’s Report. Yet women were still less likely than men to take on this endeavor, report researchers. The findings were featured at “Spurring Global Economic Growth: Unlocking Capital for Women Entrepreneurs,” a forum hosted by the World Bank in Washington, D.C.
Babson Audits Its Waste
Last fall Babson conducted its first ever waste audit, during which the community sorted about 1,500 pounds of waste and discovered that 35 percent could have been recycled and 16 percent composted. Hopes are the event will serve as a catalyst to do better moving forward.
