Babson College to Host Sports Innovation Hackathon with ASICS and HYPE Foundation on October 11

Open to all students and alumni from area colleges and universities; winner to pitch their idea during global Sports Innovation (SPIN) competition on October 12

Babson College’s Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship, together with ASICS and HYPE Foundation, will host a sports and fitness ideation hackathon on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

During the hackathon, teams will develop innovative ideas in sports and fitness, solving key industry challenges or developing new tech solutions to improve outcomes. 

This all-day event is open to all students and alumni of area colleges and universities, and will be held in Babson’s Schlesinger Innovation Center at its Wellesley campus. Participants do not need to have a technical background to join.

Three finalists will receive vouchers from ASICS to make purchases on Asics.com. The ultimate winner will receive the opportunity to pitch their idea during the Global Sports Innovation (SPIN) FINAL competition at WeWork on Mass Ave in Cambridge on October 12. Here, 10 global finalists will present their startups to sports and tech brand leaders, potential investors, sports clubs, and organizations. 

The winner of the global competition will be invited to ASICS Institute of Sport Science in Kobe, Japan, the global R&D center, to get mentored by the brand’s leading teams on potential integration into ASICS products.

  • Aimee Bida, Director of Marketing, Healthworks Group;
  • Gerard Klein, General Manager, Global Footwear Product Merchandising and design, ASICS;
  • Chris Bulger, Director of Development, Runkeeper;
  • Bernd Wahler, Chairman of HYPE, former president of VfB Stuttgart, former CMO of Adidas;
  • And more.
