Glavin Family Chapel
The Glavin Family Chapel at Babson College opened in the fall of 1997. Named to honor the family of William F. Glavin, ninth president of Babson College, the chapel serves the diverse spirituality of the community. It is a sanctuary for Babson community members to practice their religious faith, seek inspiration and guidance, and find peace in the quiet of a sacred place. The chapel welcomes people of all faiths, cultures, and traditions.
There is a rare mix of visibility and seclusion in the chapel, qualities that for many are inherent in the real yet intangible nature of spirituality. From College Drive, the chapel, constructed from granite and elemental in nature, is a prominent sight. 
As one ascends the stone steps, there is an unequivocal sense of tranquility in the natural setting on a slopping hillside nearing the edge of the main campus. Inside the chapel, the clear glass walls allow a metaphysical connection between the spiritual sanctuary within and the outside world.
Reserving the Chapel
The Chapel is only available for special religious occasions by the Babson community, friends, and family. Please contact Danielle Virgilio to approve and schedule all events during the academic year at 781-239-4505. Please be mindful that if the Chapel is needed for a crisis situation at the time of your scheduled event, your event will be asked to find an alternative location.
Religious Celebrations
Once the request has been received, the requester will be contacted within one week. If the event is approved, the requester will be sent a Glavin Family Chapel Event Contract. Please call 781-239-5623 if you have any questions. Wedding reservations include the use of the Glavin Family Chapel for three hours on the day of the religious celebration, and two hours for a rehearsal before the day of the event.
Fees
The fee for the use of the Glavin Family Chapel by the general public is $800. For use by the Babson community(including Alumni and Student/Staff/Faculty children) the fee is $500. Contact Danielle Virgilio at 781-239-4505 for a quote.
This fee covers:
- use of the Chapel for 3 hours on the day of event
- use of the Chapel for 2 hour for a rehearsal, if necessary
- administrative assistance in scheduling and filing documents
- services of a student Event Assistant to assist with Chapel preparations
- expenses for Chapel maintenance
This fee does not cover:
- Services of a pianist or other musicians
- Clergy honorarium
- Insurance: For events consisting of 30 guests or more, one time insurance is required through a Tenants' and Users' Liability Insurance Policy (TULIP)

- Signage
*Checks should be made payable to Babson College and sent to the Office of Faith and Service, Babson College, Babson Park, MA 02457. Fees must be included with the signed event contract.
Cancellation Policy
All cancellations made 90 days prior to the event date will result in a full refund of fees. Please contact Danielle Virgilio at 781-239-4505.
Capacity
150 guests. Additional seating may be added outside if needed.
Furnishings
The main sanctuary has 150 chairs, 4 arm chairs, podium (39” high), small table (30” high, 28.5”x 28.5” top), and table/altar/bimah (39” high, 69”x 42” top). These furnishings may not be removed from the main sanctuary.
Music
A Rodgers 751 Classic Organ is available for use by a professional organist. The Chapel is equipped with an audio system that includes a compact disc player, tape player, microphone, and piano.
Clergy/Officiant
It is the bride/groom’s responsibility to arrange for a member of the clergy or other officiant to perform their religious ceremony. Please note that Roman Catholic ceremonies have special guidelines established by the Archdiocese of Boston for weddings performed in non-parish settings. Some individuals must register with the Secretary of State in order to solemnize marriages in Massachusetts. Please check with your clergy member to insure that these guidelines are met.
Parking
The driveway leading to the Glavin Family Chapel may be used for the wedding couple’s transportation and temporary parking for loading/unloading set-up materials (e.g. flowers, musical instruments).
Event guests and participants may use Trim parking lot. Handicapped parking is available in the Trim or Hollister lots.
Event Assistant
Babson College will provide a student Event Assistant to assist with Chapel preparations. Your assistant will contact you one month prior to the event and will be present at the rehearsal and the ceremony to assist with preparations.
Flowers and Decorations
Decorations for the Glavin Family Chapel (flowers and bows) must be attached with elastic bands or string. Tape, thumbtacks, or wire may not be used because they damage the furnishings. Please inform the florist of this. Throwing confetti, rice, or birdseed is not permitted.
