The Babson Entertainment and Media Club
BEMC's mission is to provide an intellectual and creative platform for exploring entertainment and media along two dimensions. The first is a basic outlet for networking, panels, site visits, and other relevant events that faciliatate exploration of particular industry E/M industries. The second dimension involves utilizing the functional roles unique to these industries as tools for broader exploration. They welcome any and all perspectives and will strive to provide relevant and powerful experiences and growth opportunities to both their members and the Babson community. For more information contact: Andrew Frost at afrost2@babson.edu​.

The Babson Anime Club
The Babson Anime Club is a special interest group that watches and critiques various forms of Japanese media. They usually meet in the Publishers common room at 9:30 on Saturday evenings to watch One Piece, which is a favorite among the group. Filmmaker-in-Residence: Mary Mazzio

Mary Mazzio is the Founder and CEO of 50 Eggs, an independent film production company.   Mary wrote, directed and produced the highly-acclaimed award-winning films, A Hero for Daisy, Lemonade Stories, Apple Pie and we are BlackRock.  She recently finished TEN9EIGHT, which was theatrically released in a first-of-its-kind partnership with AMC Theatres and deals with the positive impact of a business plan competition on the lives of high school students from ten economically disadvantaged inner city communities in the US.  The film was screened at the White House Summit on entrepreneurship in April 2010 and hosted by the US Department of Education and the Library of Congress.  New York Times Columnist, Tom Friedman, said this about the film:  “Obama should arrange for this movie to be shown in every classroom in America. It is the most inspirational, heartwarming film you will ever see.”  Mary’s latest film, Big Apple Green is due to be released in the fall of 2011 and deals with the issues of food deserts, immigration, and entrepreneurship. 

Mary, an Olympic athlete (1992-Rowing), is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and Georgetown Law School and is a recipient of several awards including the Women's Sports Foundation Journalism Award, a Gracie Award, a Myra Sadker Gender Equity Curriculum Award, a Henry Luce Foundation Fellowship (to Korea); the Mary Lyon Award (from Mount Holyoke College); and a Rotary Foundation Graduate Fellowship (to France).  Mary, formerly a partner with the law firm of Brown Rudnick in Boston, MA, has also served on a number of Boards of Directors. 


​Malcolm Stearns B'81 Memorial Film Society

The Malcolm Stearns B’81 Memorial Film Society Series includes the Babson Undergraduate Class Movie Nights and selected other films screened at Babson. The series is made possible by the generous support of the Malcolm Stearns B ‘81 Memorial Film Society Fund, and is managed by the Sorenson Center for the Arts staff. All film screenings are free of charge and are open to the general public.
