Vice President of Student Affairs and Program Strategy

Betsy NewmanIn her role as Vice President of Student Affairs and Program Strategy, Betsy Newman serves as Babson’s Chief Student Affairs officer with additional responsibilities related to planning and strategy for college-wide programs and broader oversight of student affairs areas. In close partnership with faculty, staff, and leaders across campus, Betsy works to shape the vision and strategy for the student experience in ways that align with, connect to and reinforce the College’s vision “to educate entrepreneurial leaders who create economic and social value – everywhere.” Betsy leads efforts to create a campus environment that fosters students’ ability to live, learn, and lead entrepreneurially in ways that empower students to translate their passion and ideas into action in their various co-curricular and leadership pursuits. In particular, she focuses on creating and overseeing programs that aim to build a stronger campus climate focused on the achievement and development of students, both inside and outside of the classroom.

As Vice President, Betsy provides leadership to the following areas: Athletics and Recreation, College Bookstore, Community Standards, Counseling Services, Crisis Management, Faith and Service, Food Services, Graduate Student Life, Health Services, Public Safety, Residence Life, Sorenson Center for the Arts, Student Activities and Leadership, and Student Affairs.

Prior to joining Babson, Betsy was the Director of Strategic Planning and Institutional Research at Stonehill College. In this role she provided leadership and oversight for the College’s long range, strategic and operational planning activities, its institutional research function, and the college-wide assessment program. Betsy earned a B.S. degree from Babson College, an Ed.M. in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy with a concentration in Higher Education Administration from Harvard University and her Ed.D at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education and conducted her doctoral research on entrepreneurial leadership development.
