On June 7, 2015, triathletes from around the world will descend on San Francisco for one chance to attempt the impossible – ESCAPE from Alcatraz.
Submit your application by January 1, 2015. Babson participants will be chosen by random lottery.
Babson is excited to sponsor the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon and the Babson Corporate Challenge for a fourth year. Join us in San Francisco as the world watches who has what it takes to ESCAPE from Alcatraz!
Babson is looking for students, alumni, faculty, or staff to participate in the full triathlon or the corporate challenge. As the corporate challenge and triathlon occur at the same time, participants cannot compete in both. Triathletes will compete individually in the full race.
The triathlon includes a 1.5-mile swim, an 18-mile bike ride and an 8-mile run. The Corporate Challenge consists of three-person teams, with each teammate completing one leg of the triathlon.
Applications to compete are now being accepted. Applying does not guarantee a spot; participants will be chosen by random lottery. All applicants will receive notification of their status the week of January 12, 2015.
For all selected participants, Babson will cover the race entry fee and provide Babson gear to wear during the race. Athletes are responsible for their travel and lodging. More information is available on our registration page.
The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon typically features a 1.5-mile swim through frigid waters from Alcatraz Island to the shores of the St. Francis Yacht Club, a grueling 18-mile bike ride, and a demanding 8-mile run through the trails of the Golden Gate Recreational Area. Set against the natural beauty of San Francisco, this thrilling triathlon is a virtual postcard of the City by the Bay. View the course (pdf) »
