Baseball
The Baseball Camp is designed for the camper who wants to enjoy the outdoors, acquire some baseball knowledge, and make new friends.
The emphasis of this camp is both on the fundamentals of baseball and on having fun.
A typical morning begins with small-group instruction to develop skills in hitting, fielding, throwing, bunting, and positional play. A series of controlled scrimmages provides the coaching staff with the opportunity to evaluate campers’ play. Games and noncompetitive skill contests are conducted in the afternoon, and everyone participates. The afternoon continues with a focus on fundamentals to reinforce each camper’s skill development.
Program Objectives
- Improve basic skills: hitting, pitching, catching, infield and outfield play, and base running
- Improve offensive and defensive positional play through controlled scrimmages and live-game action
- Learn basic strategies and rules of baseball
- Make new friends
Due to the distance of the fields and daily schedule of Baseball Camp, free swim will not be offered.
Facilities
The Baseball Camp is run on a combination of two fields on the lower athletic fields. Campers rotate from the Govoni Varsity Baseball field and the Harrington field during the camp day. All campers play at least two innings on the Govoni Varsity Baseball field during the all-star game on Friday morning or afternoon.
