Softball
New for 2012, the Babson Summer Softball Camp introduces a more competitive softball camp for
ages 10–16.
This camp is designed for female athletes who want to fine-tune their fast pitch fundamentals.
Our dedicated staff ensures that each player maximizes her own potential. We strive to improve each player’s skills, knowledge of the game, and confidence. Our staff works with players in small groups to develop offensive and defensive skills. Areas of particular focus include pitching, hitting, bunting, fielding, positional play, and catching and throwing.
Program Objectives
- Improve individual skills: throwing, hitting, catching, pitching, and bunting
- Teach basic strategies and rules of softball
- Emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship
- Have fun while learning the game

Dave Canan, Camp Director
Head Softball Coach, Babson College
Dave Canan is currently in his 13th year as head coach of the Babson softball team. During his time with the program, he has led the team to record wins. In 2005 and 2006, Canan guided the team to two NEWMAC Championships and NCAA Tournament berths. As a result of the success of the 2006 season, Canan was named NEWMAC Coach of the Year.
