Boys Lacrosse
The Boys Lacrosse Camp is designed for boys ages 8–14, grades 3–9, who are looking to learn the game of lacrosse in a competitive and fun atmosphere.
Our camp consists of three groups. Our beginner section will learn to catch and throw, and other basics of the game.
For the intermediate and advanced groups (where full equipment is required), in addition to fundamentals such as stick skills and offensive and defensive strategies, campers will learn the finer points of the game through drills and full-field competition. We have created these three groups to allow each camper to be taught at a level that is appropriate for his ability and physical stature.
During the week, beginner players who are ready and want to try full-field, competitive lacrosse will have a chance to make the transition into the full-field game in the afternoon.
Program Objectives
- Learn the game of lacrosse
- Learn one-on-one and team concepts of the game
- Demonstrate and practice drills and self-practice techniques
- Learn concepts of the game in small, understandable pieces (fast break, ground balls, faceoffs, and defense)
- Play daily games at the end of each day to incorporate the skills learned in the morning sessions into a game setting
- Ensure that every camper leaves with a better knowledge and enjoyment of the game
Specialized Goalkeeping Instruction
Don Berube will teach specialized goalkeeping instruction in the morning sessions. This will be Coach Berube’s fifth year directing this very popular section of the camp. The developing goalkeeper will be working specifically on body positioning, clear passing, stick positioning, and save mechanics. Goalie chest protectors are available on a limited basis. Please indicate if you are a goalie in the application.
Equipment
Beginner: Campers must bring their own mouth guard, helmet, lacrosse stick, cleats, and sneakers for potential indoor and/or turf play. (Gloves, shoulder pads, and arm pads are optional).
Intermediate/Advanced: Campers must bring their own stick, gloves, helmet, mouth guard, shoulder pads, arm pads, and cleats.
