2012 New Student Orientation Schedule

Saturday, January 21

9:30 am - Noon - New Student Check In (New students are encouraged to check in by noon.)

  • Check in and receive important information materials and your schedule for the next two days and class schedule.
  • Resources from specific offices will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. (Late check-in available from 12-2 pm during the Campus Resources Fair.)
  • The Bookstore (located in the Reynolds Campus Center) is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • International Students in F-1 and J-1 status must bring immigration documents (passport with visa, Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record, and Form I-20 or Form DS-2019) to Check-In

9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Residence Halls open for students to get settled

11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Brunch in Trim Dining Hall

Noon - 2 p.m. - Campus Resources Fair

2 - 3 p.m. - Orientation Group Meeting

3:15 - 4:30 p.m. - Campus Tour

5 - 6 p.m. - Dinner with Families, Trim Dining Hall

6 p.m. - Say Goodbye! Take some time to say goodbye to your family. 

7 p.m. - Hypnotist, Kevin Hurley

8 p.m. - Bus to Target for last minute school supplies!

Sunday, January 22

8:30 - 10 a.m. - Breakfast

10 - 10:30 a.m. - Morning Meeting

10:30 – 11:15 a.m. - Babson Basics

11:15 a.m. – Noon - Making it Your (Academic) Babson

12:15 - 1:15 p.m. - Lunch

1:30 - 4:30 p.m. - GAP, Exchange, and Transfer specific sessions

  • 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
    • GAP Students & Faculty Lead Discussion/First FYS class
    • Transfer & Exchange: Community Standards and Honor Code
  • 2:30 - 3:15 p.m. Social with Current Students
  • 3:15 - 4:30 p.m.

4:30 – 5:30 p.m. - Free Time

9:45 - 10:45 a.m. - Diversity and Inclusion at Babson

11 a.m. – Noon - Your Well Being at Babson

Noon - 1 p.m. - Lunch

1:15 - 2:15 p.m. - Laptop 101/Introduction to IT

2:30 - 4:30 p.m. - Break-out Sessions

  • 2:30 - 4 p.m. - International & Exchange Student Immigration Session
  • 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. - Academic Advising
  • 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. - Foreign Language Placement

Family Orientation Schedule - Saturday, January 21

11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Brunch in Trim Dining Hall

Noon - 2 p.m. - Campus Resources Fair, Hollister Lobby
Representatives from various campus offices will be available to answer any questions.

2 - 3:15 p.m. - All Family Meeting, Reynolds 241
Dennis Hanno, Dean of the Undergraduate School, and Betsy Newman, Dean of Student Affairs, will provide an overview of the Babson experience including resources and support for you and your student, as well as present the College’s philosophy in working with students and families.

3:30 - 4:30 p.m. - Undergraduate Curriculum Overview, Reynolds 241
Join FME faculty and Assistant Class Dean Brian Duggan for an overview of the undergraduate curriculum including the FME program and other integrated courses at Babson.

5 - 6 p.m. - Dinner with Families, Trim Dining Hall

6 p.m. - Say Goodbye! Take some time to say goodbye to your student.
