New special interest groups and living-learning communities will be granted a living unit to provide the group with meeting/living space to enhance the identity of the group and unity among its members. The presentation will need to reflect this purpose. All presentations should include the following: purpose and mission statement for the community, how living in a designated space will enhance the experience, how the group plans to deal with problems/issues as they arise, action plan for dealing with community members who have not met community standards, plan to deal with unexpected vacancies, and programming ideas and goals that plan to be accomplished.
New Special Interest Housing Application Process
- Applications are available on Life@Babson on the Residence Life page pplications are due by 4 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 (completion of electronic form).
- Applications will be reviewed and applicants will be notified by Friday, February 22, 2013 if they will be moving on to the presentation round of the process.
- Applicants that are invited to the presentation round will present on Friday, March 1, 2013.
- Final decisions will be made and applicants will be notified of their status by Friday, March 8, 2013.
As returning applicants, we are looking to hear your reflections on what you have done well and areas you would like to improve upon. Please consider the following in your reflection: purpose and mission statement for your community, examples of how your community adheres to your purpose and mission statement, how living in a designated space has contributed to your group, how the group demonstrates adhering to Babson community standards as well as the additional community standards created by your group, examples of how the group handled conflict/problems/issues this year, how your group plans to deal with problems/issues as they arise for next year, action plan for dealing with members who have not met community standards, and your plan to deal with unexpected vacancies. In addition, we will also be reviewing the following for returning applicants.

Current Special Interest Housing Review Process
Reapplication meetings will occur during the period of February 15 – March 1. Community Managers, presidents. and appropriate professional staff will attend meetings. A sign-up sheet for meeting times will be available at the front desk of Reynolds 211. Organizations must sign-up for a meeting time by 4 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013.
