What piece of advice changed your life?
I had a mentor at a previous job who realized I was taking on too much responsibility and struggling to prioritize my time effectively. It was having a big impact on my satisfaction and productivity, and I felt like I couldn’t live up to a lot of expectations. He sent me a video clip of Steve Jobs speaking at a developer conference in 1997, where he said, “Focus is about saying no. And, the result of that focus is going to be some really great products where the total is much greater than the sum of the parts.” That advice had a really big impact on the way that I work and the way that I live.
