B.E.T.A Challenge winners from PICCPerfect, Play Business, and Green Piñata Toy Share announced at annual event Celebrating Entrepreneurial Thought & Action®

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Babson College undergraduate student business PICCPerfect, graduate student business Play Business, and alumni business Green Piñata Toy Share are the 2016 winners of the Babson College B.E.T.A. (Babson Entrepreneurial Thought & Action ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​®) Challenge .

B.E.T.A. Challenge competitors pitched their ventures this April for the chance to win a grand prize of $20,000 in cash, plus in-kind services from corporate sponsors, including Microsoft​BizLandCummings Properties, andMassChallenge. Winners exemplified proven success by reaching major milestones achieved through action.

Microsoft granted an additional 'BizSpark' prize to Play Business, including free cloud services, access to software, tools, and training courses. The Lewis Institute at Babson also announced a $1,000 award to B.E.T.A Challenge semifinalist SaveOhno, founded by Dylan Husted ’17, for its use of E​​ntrepreneurial Thought & Action®​ in combining economic value with social impact.

The other finalists—Bellicose Beauty Co.GenYLabzBevBenchVélocityCociel Foods, and India in a Box, also received $2,500 to aid in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Undergraduate Student Winner - PICCPerfect

Emily Levy ’16, Maria del Mar Gomez ’16, Julianne Carlin ’17, and Yousef Al-Humaidhi ’15

PICCPerfect was launched by CEO and Co-Founder Emily Levy who has been battling Severe Chronic Lyme Disease since 2007. Emily and team are on a mission to build the confidence of other chronically-ill patients while also easing their treatment by creating functional and fashionable medical accessories. Their first product was the PICCPerfect PICC Line Cover.





Graduate Student Winner - Play Business

Joan Segura Oyamburu MS’17 and Fernanda de Velasco

Play Business is the first online equity crowdfunding platform for Mexican entrepreneurs and global investors.By making connections between Mexican entrepreneurs and people from around the world, Play Business is helping to grow the local economy while giving anyone the opportunity to invest in the best emerging startups in Latin America.





Alumni Winner - Green Piñata Toy Share

Shiva Kashalkar M’11 and Kiran Kashalkar M’15

Green Piñata Toy Share is an online subscription service that ships premium, educational toys for young children. By exchanging old toys with new ones—children never get bored, their toy collection adapts and evolves at the same pace as their development, and clutter is reduced in the home. Toy packages are tailored by age, and can be further customized based on special needs. After the toys have been rented a certain number of times, Green Piñata donates them to kids in need.
