BABSON’S “FROM DAY ONE” CELEBRATION CONNECTS STUDENTS TO SOCIAL INNOVATION OPPORTUNITIES ─ AUGUST 28TH, 2012
On August 28th, Babson College will host “From Day One”, an active marketplace of social innovation designed to connect students to the many ways they can make a difference in the world from the moment they first step foot on campus.
Students will be asked to think about how they will make social innovation an important part of their educational experience at Babson and beyond. “From Day One” offers them the opportunity to discover their own definition of social innovation and asks them to consider how they will make a difference while making a living.
Cheryl Kiser, Executive Director of Babson’s Lewis Institute for Social Innovation, the organization staging the celebration, says “From Day One” shows students how to become change makers. “Understanding how to simultaneously create social and economic value is serious business at Babson, and we introduce that intention From Day One,” affirms Kiser.
• Students will have a chance to listen, learn, and connect with inspiring peers as well as successful Babson staff and organizational partners as they share their stories of Making a Difference
• Eat, Drink and Be Sustainable! Join the Babson Sustainable Kitchen starting at 5:00pm for a dinner locally sourced and sustainably created. Under the culinary magic of Chef Gary Symolon and the Sodexo team, we will be using recycled materials, sustainable cooking methods, locally grown vegetables, and free range meats to provide you with a sustainable dining experience.
• Discover Babson’s newest partner, YouthTrade, a social movement aimed at creating markets and unleashing youth entrepreneurship. Visit some of these social entrepreneurs to experience their products, and participate in a moderated panel as they share their stories of success and failure.
