Babson College STEP scholars ─ Pramodita Sharma, STEP Global Director and STEP Global Board Chair; Matt Allen, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Research Director, STEP Project; and Valerie Duffy, Manager of the STEP Project ─ will present the latest research and best practices for entrepreneurial family businesses at the annual Global STEP Summit Nov. 14-16, 2013 at ESADE in Barcelona, Spain.

STEP (Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurial Practices) is a global applied research project. It is a collaboration of scholars, worldwide, studying successful entrepreneurial practices of family businesses over time. Babson College is the convener of this project. Leading academics and business families from around the globe join together at this annual event to explore STEP and to create a stream of powerful applications that empower families to build their entrepreneurial legacies.

The Global STEP Summit delivers immediate value back to families participating in the research and allows researchers to test the real-time relevance of their findings. This year’s theme is “Meeting the new demands for change, building on family legacy” and will address:

  • New Ideas for a New World: Changing Pathways of STEP Families
  • Developing Resources and Capabilities for Dynamic Adaption
  • Developing the Next Generation
  • Entrepreneurial Mindsets Around the World

About The STEP Project

Founded in 2005 by Babson College in collaboration with six academic affiliates in Europe, the STEP Project (Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices) is a global applied research initiative that explores the entrepreneurial process within business families and generates solutions that have immediate application for family leaders. The visionary institutions that founded the project include ESADE (Spain), HEC (France), Jönköping International Business School (Sweden), Universita Bocconi (Italy), Universitat St. Gallen (Switzerland), Universitat Witten/Herdecke (Germany), and Babson College (USA).

The STEP Project at Babson conducts leading edge research, generates applied entrepreneurship practices, and provides a shared learning environment. STEP also examines how families generate new economic activity through venturing, renewal, and generation.
