BABSON PRESIDENT KERRY HEALEY AMONG BOSTINNO'S 50 ON FIRE AWARD FINALISTS
Babson College President Kerry Healey has been named a finalist in BostInno’s 2015 50 on Fire Awards. The awards are given annually to honor Boston’s inventors, disrupters, luminaries, and newsmakers across all industries, and will culminate at a celebration to announce the ultimate winners on December 3, 2015.
President Healey is being recognized for an array of institutional, national, and global accomplishments since joining Babson College in 2013, including, but not limited to: Babson’s many No. 1 rankings from outlets such asMoney Magazine and U.S. News & World Report; top ten rankings for alumni earnings from PayScale and the U.S. Department of Education; the new class of 2019 having the first-ever population of students with more women than men, at 54 percent; a recent 21 percent increase in undergraduate applications; an upgraded school bond rating from Moody’s and Standard and Poor’s (S&P); and more.
Alumnus John Burns M’05, the Chief Investment Officer at Breakaway, a Boston-based brand capital firm, is also recognized as a finalist, and is the co-founder of the Babson Breakaway Challenge, a one-of-a-kind competition and mentoring program offering women-led businesses the opportunity to compete for $250,000 in funding, marketing services, and more. The Challenge is currently accepting applications from women entrepreneurs, their teams, and aspiring venture capitalists, through January 5, 2016.
Diane Hessan, an investment finalist, was inducted into Babson’s Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs in 2014 for her work as a successful entrepreneur, marketer, and author – most notably as Founder and Chairman atCommunispace. She has since joined the Startup Institute (also a 50 on Fire finalist) as Chief Executive Officer, alongside Vice President, Program Director, and alumnus, Allan Telio M’07.

- Bigbelly Solar – founded by alumnus and Babson professor Jim Poss M’03,
- PaintNite – co-founded by alumnus Dan Hermann M’10, and
- Blank Label – founded by Fan Bi – a 2009 Babson College study abroad student.
