FINANCIAL TIMES NAMES BABSON 8TH BEST U.S. CUSTOMIZED EXECUTIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM
Babson has been named the 8th best custom executive education program in the U.S. according to the Financial Times 2014 Executive Education rankings.
FT ranked the top 80 customized programs in the world, ranked Babson #19 worldwide.
“I am proud of the unique value proposition that we deliver to our clients and the work that we do around the globe to further Babson’s mission of developing entrepreneurial leaders of all kinds…everywhere,” said Dean of Executive Education Elaine Eisenman.
FT featured “Business Education for Women In Developing Economies,” highlighting Babson Entrepreneur’s Boot Camp and its partnership with Goldman Sachs’s 10,000 Small Businesses. Babson’s research in the area of women entrepreneurs, as cofounder of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, finds that “women are ‘necessity entrepreneurs’ – their decision driven by circumstances – rather than ‘opportunity entrepreneurs’, says Eisenman. “They are the sole support for their family and don’t set out to become entrepreneurs.”
The ranking of customized course providers is compiled using data from the business schools themselves and from organizations that commissioned courses in 2013. These clients, nominated by the school, complete an online questionnaire about their program. For a school to remain eligible for the final ranking of the top 80 providers, at least five of their clients must complete the FT survey.
Clients select one of three options to categorize their program’s design type: Strategic – delivered to top management and designed to influence a company’s direction; General – delivered to management on operational aspects of a company; or Functional – related to a specific function, such as marketing.
Client responses are weighted according to program type. Strategic program have the highest weighting and so the greatest impact on the ranking. Responses are also weighted by the seniority of the individual responsible for specifying the course, the size of the client organization, and the number of schools with which that client has commissioned customized courses in the past three years.
The survey was completed by 1,100 business school clients this year, 55 per cent of those invited. Each rated their program on a range of indicators using a 10-point scale.
