MARY MAZZIO, FOUNDER OF 50 EGGS LLC, IS FILMMAKER IN RESIDENCE AT BABSON
Mary Mazzio, Founder and CEO of 50 Eggs, LLC, an independent film production company, has joined Babson as Filmmaker in Residence.
Mazzio wrote, directed, and produced the highly-acclaimed award-winning films:
Lemonade Stories, underwritten with Babson, is the award-winning film about extraordinary entrepreneurs and their mothers who ignited the entrepreneurial spirit of their sons and daughters. The film featured:
- Arthur Blank, ’63 Babson alumni, (The Home Depot) and his mom Molly
- Richard Branson (Virgin) and mom Eve
- Kay Koplovitz (USA Network) and her mom
- Kelly Reinhart (TPAK International) and her mom Lori
- Tom Scott (Nantucket Nectars) and mom Jane
- Russell Simmons (Def Jam), his mom Evelyn
- Billy Starr (PanMassChallenge) and his mom Betty
TEN9EIGHT was theatrically released in a first-of-its-kind partnership with AMC Theatres and deals with the positive impact of a business plan competition on the lives of high school students from ten economically disadvantaged inner city communities in the US. The film was screened at the White House Summit on entrepreneurship in April 2010 and hosted by the US Department of Education and the Library of Congress. New York Times Columnist, Tom Friedman, said this about the film: “Obama should arrange for this movie to be shown in every classroom in America. It is the most inspirational, heartwarming film you will ever see.” Mazzio’s latest film, Big Apple Green is due to be released in the fall of 2011 and deals with the issues of food deserts, immigration, and entrepreneurship.
An Olympic athlete (1992-Rowing), Mazzio is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and Georgetown Law School and is a recipient of several awards including the Women's Sports Foundation Journalism Award, a Gracie Award, a Myra Sadker Gender Equity Curriculum Award, a Henry Luce Foundation Fellowship (to Korea); the Mary Lyon Award (from Mount Holyoke College); and a Rotary Foundation Graduate Fellowship (to France). She was a partner with the law firm of Brown Rudnick in Boston, MA, and has served on a number of Boards of Directors.
Mazzio will be available to members of the Babson community to consult on projects.
