BABSON’S CWEL DIRECTOR SUSAN G. DUFFY NAMED GOLD WINNER IN 12TH ANNUAL STEVIE® AWARDS FOR WOMEN IN BUSINESS
Susan G. Duffy, Executive Director of the at Babson College, has been named a Gold Stevie® Winner for the 'Women Helping Women' category in the 12thannual Stevie® Awards for Women in Business.
The Stevie® Awards for Women in Business are open to all organizations worldwide, and recognize the achievements of women executives, entrepreneurs, and the organizations they run. Results were announced at the 12th annual awards dinner on Friday, November 13 in New York City.
At Babson, Duffy leads the Center for Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership (CWEL), a collaborative learning laboratory dedicated to investigating, educating, and celebrating women entrepreneurial leaders of all kinds. The center:
- Serves as the hub of Babson’s initiatives advancing women as contributors to social and economic value everywhere;
- Advocates and cultivates a campus culture that supports future entrepreneurial leaders who understand, manage, and lead with gender aptitude;
- Designs and delivers educational programs that reflect intentional pedagogy, high-impact relevance, and differentiated faculty expertise; and is
- Recognized as a global leader in women’s entrepreneurial leadership research, pedagogy, and practice.
“I am honored to be a Stevie® Gold Winner, especially for the ‘Women Helping Women’ category because it recognizes the significant accomplishments we’ve been able to achieve in undergraduate, graduate, and executive education, and in gender research and thought leadership around the world,” said Duffy.
This fall, Duffy and alumnus M'05 of Breakaway, a Boston-based brand capital firm, launched the Babson Breakaway Challenge – a competition and mentoring program that promotes gender parity while championing women entrepreneurs and aspiring venture capitalists.
The Challenge finalists—six women-led startups and six venture capital apprentices—will receive six weeks of intensive mentoring from top thought-leaders. The program will culminate with a final pitch showcase on March 30, 2016. Breakaway will award the winning startup with $250,000 in funding and a brand identity platform, as well as extend a summer internship offer to the top performing venture capital apprentice.
