BABSON STUDENT BUSINESS SWEET! CORN TORTILLA CHIPS WINS 2012 BABSON ENTREPRENEURIAL THOUGHT AND ACTION® UNDERGRADUATE CHALLENGE
Undergraduate business Sweet! Corn Tortilla Chips is winner of the 2012 Undergraduate B.E.T.A. (Babson Entrepreneurial Thought and Action®) Challenge, receiving a grand prize of $20,000 in cash and "services in kind" donations from corporate sponsors respectively.
Chips is the first winner of the newly established undergraduate portion of the Babson B.E.T.A. Challenge. Formerly the Douglass Graduate Business Plan Competition and John H. Muller Jr. Undergraduate Business Plan Competition, the B.E.T.A. Challenge is a business competition that recognizes major milestones student businesses have achieved by taking action.

Sweet! Corn Tortilla Chips Inc. markets and sells the first tortilla chips to use real sweet corn as an ingredient, while maintaining a commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

Runner-up finalists received $2,500 and “service in kind” donations from corporate sponsors.
After having their applications reviewed by alumni evaluators from across the globe and participating in the Venture Expo (B.E.T.A. Challenge Semifinals), the winners were chosen on April 18 by a panel of alumni judges including entrepreneurs and investors. Criteria focused on major milestones achieved to date through taking action and credibility of future goals.

Babson College was the first academic institution to hold a business plan competition for students.
Each year, Babson alumni from around the world volunteered their time to evaluate student business plans. Based on their feedback, three finalists were chosen to compete in both the Douglass Foundation Graduate Business Plan Competition and the John H. Muller Undergraduate Business Plan Competitions.
The business plan competitions continued through April 2011.
The B.E.T.A. Challenge is sponsored by the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship, and Pepper Hamilton LLP: a multi-practice law firm with more than 500 lawyers nationally. The firm provides corporate, litigation and regulatory legal services to leading businesses, governmental entities, nonprofit organizations and individuals throughout the nation and the world.
