Funding Guidelines for Babson Faculty Gender Research

Through the Babson Faculty Research Fund, the F&E CWEL supports research relating to the current status of women and gender and its intersections with leadership and entrepreneurship, in areas as diverse as business, activism, social science, culture and the arts.

Funding Goals

• To have complete transparency in the funding process
• To utilize F&E CWEL funds to support worthy research projects aligned with the Center’s mission

Award Framework

Research areas supported:

• Research relating to the current status of women and gender and its intersections with leadership and entrepreneurship, in areas as diverse as business, activism, social science, culture, and the arts
• Historical research on women and gender in these same diverse areas

Eligibility:

• All full and part-time faculty are eligible

Funding categories:

• Research-related travel expenses to collect data
• Conference presentations – travel, registration, etc.
• Stipends – seed money to jump-start or investigate new research projects

Application forms and information are available on the BFRF website 

Mini-Grant application -- funding less than $2500

• One page application may be submitted to BFRF at any time
• Recipients must submit a one page summary as specified in the award announcement
• Application must state explicitly how the proposed research connects to gender and the “research areas” listed above

Major award – funding in excess of $2500:

• Full proposals may be submitted to BFRF by posted deadline, generally late January
• Final product submission to be a paper or book destined for external publication
• Application must state explicitly how the proposed research connects to gender and the “research areas” listed above

The BFRF and the F&E CWEL Directors will review the proposals and determine the amount of the award.
