Can Financial Engineering Cure Cancer?

Well-respected MIT professor Andrew Lo, is the Charles E. and Susan T Harris Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management and Chief Investment Strategist for AlphaSimplex, a Cambridge-based hedge fund. Among his many accomplishments, Professor Lo was named to Time Magazine's list of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Funding for biomedical innovation has been declining despite the fact that medical breakthroughs are occurring at faster rates. One reason for this contradiction is scientific knowledge can actually lead to greater economic risk for investors. In this presentation, Professor Lo will describe how financial engineering can be used to reduce the risk and increase the attractiveness of biomedical innovation so as to bring new therapies to patients faster. Time will be allotted for audience Q&A. This is a free event and walk-ins are welcome!
