Raymond Marcinowski

  • Adjunct Lecturer
Academic Division: Entrepreneurship

Ray Marcinowski teaches courses in global management and corporate entrepreneurship in the MBA program at Babson College. Prior to joining the Babson faculty, Ray spent over two decades at Fidelity Investments, gaining deep experience in starting up, building and running major global and offshore business organizations. He has chaired and served as a member of four internal Fidelity boards, served as a member of The Conference Board’s Operations Group, and currently is an advisory board member for a retirement planning company.

At Fidelity, Ray led both start-up and growth-focused organizations in an unusually diverse range of disciplines, including operations, marketing/sales, client service and IT/business processes.

His expertise in international operations strategy was developed in part during three key executive assignments -- in Tokyo, as President, Fidelity Group Pensions Japan; in Bangalore, as President, Fidelity India; and at corporate headquarters, as Group President, Enterprise Operations, where he had overall leadership responsibility for the firm’s global operations.

Over the course of those assignments, Ray was actively engaged in assessing offshore business opportunities; developing start-up and growth strategies; building global and native organizations; successfully navigating foreign financial, government and cultural environments; and establishing country-specific risk management structures. He served as chairman of the Fidelity Global Operations and Transfer Agent boards, and as a member of the Fidelity Business Services India and Fidelity Management & Research India boards.

During his first decade-plus with Fidelity, Ray led a broad array of business units with sales of up to $1 billion in the retail, institutional/corporate, service and independent investment advisor sectors.

Ray began his professional career with Exxon Company USA. He held a number of positions of increasing responsibility encompassing sales, operations management, marketing and strategic planning.

Ray earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA in from Union College. He has been a frequent speaker at international and domestic financial services conferences, university business schools and business leadership groups; and is a member of the Boston Committee for Foreign Relations.
